Yuri’s English Grammar

The English cards consist of two parts: Basic to intermediate and intermediate to advanced .

The first part of the English series contains 50 charts with grammatical categories ( pronouns, possessives, prepositions, etc. ) and basic structures ( I live, I don’t live, do you live? ). The tables display all the foundation grammar that you need to know when studying English as a second language from basic up to an intermediate level.

The second card of the English series contains over 20 grammar charts with formulas and examples so you can easily see how more complex structures are formed. This a great card for those studying at a higher level and want to have a reminder at hand of such structures.

Some of the grammar included in the basic to intermediate card:

  • Definite and indefinite articles
  • Personal pronouns
  • Wh-Questions
  • Possessives
  • Adjectives
  • Frequency adverbs
  • The verb to be in present and past simple
  • Present continuous
  • Present perfect
  • Future ( will and going to )
  • Demonstratives
  • Reflexive and object pronouns
  • Quantifiers and determiners
  • Comparatives and superlatives
  • Modal verbs
  • Time prepositions

Some of the grammar included in the intermediate to advanced card:

  • The verb to be in all the tenses
  • Difference between used to, be used to and get used to
  • Question tags ( aren’t I? Aren’t you? )
  • All the perfect tenses
  • Defining and non-defining clauses
  • Reported speech
  • Indirect questions ( he said that… )
  • Conditionals – 4 types
  • Wishes as regrets
  • Passive voice
  • Participial adjectives
  • Place prepositions
  • Different meanings of the verb to get

The charts are displayed in a set of colours to help you easily identify the changes that occur when the sentences are in affirmative, negative and interrogative. This is very important at a basic level until students get familiar with the English structure.

Light colours are used to emphasize the personal pronouns ( I, you, he, she …) and dark colours are used to emphasize the verb to be or the auxiliaries ( am, is, was, do, didn’t …)

The colours yellow, purple and green display the singular form of the pronouns, adjectives, verbs and auxiliaries. The coral colour displays the plural form, we, you, they. This distinction makes it easier for you to find the word you need and it gives you a clear map of the English language.

The tables are independent from each other so you can focus on the chart related to the topic that you are studying in class, eg comparatives, modal verbs, defining clauses, etc.

The cards are a quick and handy reference guide to keep by your side when in class or for independent studying. They are great for studying, for reference and for practice.

They are convenient because they don’t contain all the explanations that you have already been given by your teacher, or that are included in your book. They contain the elements that you need to put into practice or the formulas to follow so you can create your own sentences.

Yuri’s Study Cards contain all the grammar you need when studying English as a second language. If you have your textbook, your workbook, your dictionary and your grammar card, you will be all set for your English lessons!
