Description

Yuri’s French Grammar

The French cards consist of two parts: Basic to intermediate and intermediate to advanced.

The first part of the French series contains over 30 grammar charts with word classes such as pronouns, possessives, prepositions, adjectives, etc. It also shows you the endings that the verbs need when you conjugate them in present, past, imperfect, conditional and in the future. The tables display all the foundation grammar that you need to know when studying French as a second language from basic up to an intermediate level.

Some of the grammar included in the basic to intermediate level card:

  • Definite and indefinite articles
  • Personal pronouns
  • Wh-Questions
  • Possessives
  • Adjectives
  • Reflexive pronouns and verbs
  • Frequency adverbs
  • Verb tenses (present, past, imperfect, future, conditional)
  • List of common regular and irregular verbs in present and past
  • Demonstratives
  • Direct and indirect object
  • Negative
  • Keywords

The French advanced card contains 30 charts with more complex grammar with formulas and examples so you can see how these structures are formed. One page is dedicated to the subjunctive as many students find this topic a bit confusing.

Some of the grammar included in the intermediate to advanced card:

  • The imperative
  • Relative pronouns (qui, que, lequel, etc.)
  • Past simple
  • Subjunctive endings in past, present and present perfect
  • Subjunctive uses
  • Reported Speech (il a dit qu’il…)
  • Direct and indirect expressions
  • Position of pronouns in sentences
  • Passive Voice
  • List of verbs that use avoir and faire
  • Expressions of opinion

This is a great card for those studying at a higher level and want to have a reminder at hand of such structures.

The charts are displayed in a set of colours to help you easily identify the word you need. The colours yellow, purple and green display the different persons or pronouns: je, tu, il, elle, on, nous, vous, ils and els. So, when you see these colours in any of the charts, you will know which person it corresponds to.

The tables are independent from each other so you can focus on the chart related to the topic that you are studying in class.

The cards are a quick and handy reference guide to keep by your side when in class or for independent studying. They are great for studying, for reference and for practising.

They are convenient because they don’t contain all the explanations that you have already been given by your teacher, or that are included in your book. You can have a constant reminder of the structures at a glance. They contain the elements that you need to put into practice.

If you are an Irish student studying for your exams, the first card is suitable for Junior Cert.

Both cards are suitable for Junior Cert and Leaving Certificate.
